It’s New Year’s Eve and time to reflect and what a busy year it’s been!!
I have added new products to my illustration range:
Although I have been going to the Tetbury Market for a while by the end of 2013 I have taken over organising our Craft & Gift Fairs at Tetbury Market House.
I have started being an Independent Phoenix Trader.
And last but definitely not least is my photography. In January I started entering the Image of the Month Competition with The Guild of Photographers and have been awarded 6 Silver Bar Awards and 20 Bronze Bar Awards with December’s scores still to come back. It has been an incredible year for my photography and here are all those award winning images:
It has been an amazing year and I can’t wait to get started on 2014 to see where it takes me!
When I first started my illustration range, along with my original name prints with illustrations for each letter and full alphabet prints, I created a letter print range of illustrations. Just one illustration with the corresponding letter. I thought these could be a nice way of adding a bit of personalisation to a children’s room without a full name. However, it seems as though they’re not as popular as I’d have hoped. But then it struck me at the weekend…. Why am I printing them as letter prints, when I should be designing them as alternative name prints? How had I not thought of this before?!
Choose your favourite illustration from the complete range of 72 and then add your name underneath.
With the original name prints, it is difficult to fit too many letters on as the illustrations become too small, however with these new personalised prints, longer names can be accommodated very easily.
The colour of the name will be chosen to match the illustration, but if you have a preferred colour then you can just let me know when you order.
They are approx. 23cm x 23cm and are available to order from my online shop for just £9.50 unframed or £19.50 framed. Click here.
I’ve been thinking about offering extra personalised details on my prints for a while, so when a friend asked me to create one for a Christening present, of course I told her I could!
There are three areas of text that you can add details to. Two standard rows immediately below the name and then a little section in the corner if you’d like to “sign it”. It is entirely up to you what details or text goes in those areas and I will balance the text size to fit nicely on the print. Text colour will be a softer shade of the main text colour i.e. for boys it will be a softer blue and for girls a softer pink. Digital proofs can be emailed out to check for any errors prior to printing if requested.
I have been given permission to share the lovely print that was created for Mia. The Christening was on sunday and I received some lovely feedback on sunday evening from them: “Thankyou so much for making me a great memento for my Goddaughters christening present! It was beautiful and would recommend you to anyone for childrens gifts for any occasion! xxx”. Apparently Mia’s mum cried when she saw it because it was so perfect…. but you didn’t hear that from me
Name prints with additional personalised details will be available soon on the online shop in the meantime you can order them directly from me through my facebook page or email firstname.lastname@example.org. They will be on sale for £17.50 unframed and £32.50 framed (framed illustrations will be available for collection only.
It seems that the majority of people that buy my bunting do so to create personalised name bunting. It’s great, that’s exactly why I made it, I want people to be able to buy a personalised string of bunting right then and there and not have to place an order like they would have to for conventional bunting. But when I was designing it I also wanted to give people the option to be able to just choose their favourite designs without having to spell anything out. So I print each flag as double sided, one side shows the illustration on its own and the other side also shows the corresponding letter. So my conundrum now is how can I show people how beautiful the bunting looks as a string of their favourite illustrations as well??
And thus my bunting collections were born! There are currently five to choose from which incorporate some of the most popular of my designs and children’s favourite themes.
There’s The Terrific Transport Bunting Collection which includes: a yacht, a tractor, a helicopter, a bus, a car, a fire engine and a ufo (of course, I mean what better way to travel than by ufo)!
There’s the Pretty in Pink Bunting Collection, which includes: a ring, a dress, a unicorn, a fairy, a necklace, a cupcake and a ballerina.
There’s the Great Outdoors Bunting Collection, which includes: a snail, a house, a ladybird, a nest, a gnome, a bumble bee and an apple.
There’s the Animal Menagerie Bunting Collection, which includes: a giraffe, a dog, a hippo, a penguin, an owl, a zebra and a monkey.
And there’s also the All at Sea Bunting Collection, which includes: a whale, a net, a lighthouse, a treasure island, a rainbow, an octopus and a yacht.
Each collection includes 7 of my unique poppered bunting flags and a pair of end loop ribbons so that they can be hung straight away. When connected together with the end loops the string measures just over 1 metre. They are also fully compatible with all the other designs and accessories from my bunting range.
For those not familiar with my bunting, I print my illustrations onto a canvas material and each flag connects directly onto the next by a popper. Also in my bunting range is spacing ribbon for those that like the more traditional look of spreading the flags out and there’s also reversing ribbon so that some flags can be hung showing just the illustration and others within the same string can show the letter. They are all hand made by me with the help of a vintage pinking machine and a handy popper press. There are currently 72 illustrations covering the entire alphabet with 3 designs for every letter (with plans for even more designs in the future).
My new bunting collections will be making their debut appearance this weekend (25th May 2013) at Tetbury Market House and will be coming to my online shop soon! They’ll be on sale for £14.50.
I’ve admired the Phoenix Trading range of cards and stationery for a long time. Their quality and innovative designs have always impressed me, so when the opportunity came up to become a Phoenix Trader it didn’t take long to take the plunge. It’s a very small set up fee and you can do it as a small secondary income or take it on as a full-time business opportunity, it’s entirely up to you! I see it as a perfect complement to my existing designs and ranges and plan to combine the two.
Here are a few of my favourite designs:
With hundreds of card designs to choose from, it’s hard to even begin showing them to you. But here’s just a few that caught my eye. I really love their 3D cards, such as the little fairies card where the wings can be gently popped out, or the beach huts card that folds in half across the middle of the beach huts, making their roofs pop up over the top of the card.
Then there’s their brilliant stationery range. From notecards & jotter pads to notepads and paper chains, it’s all beautifully made with gorgeous designs.
And they have some brilliant full size colour posters, there’s an entire colouring in range (which my children may not get a look in if I get the colours out first!). I particularly like their planners & reward charts etc, which have 52 sheets per pad so there’s a fresh sheet for each week!
And if all that isn’t enough there’s also wrapping papers, ribbons, organiser boxes, pop up boxes, gift bags, tags….. It really does just go on and on!!!
On monday I had my mini-launch party. I invited a handful of friends and neighbours and baked lots of cake. Unfortunately, the cake didn’t get finished, but everyone loved the Phoenix Trading cards & stationery and I need to place another order already!
If you’d like me to send you a catalogue you can get in touch with me on my normal email address or my phoenix trading address: email@example.com you can also place an order directly with me via email or my facebook page. If you’re more internet savvy, you may prefer to order via my Phoenix Trading website. All orders from the website are despatched directly from the warehouse, so even if I don’t have a particularly design in stock, the warehouse will.
As I now stock such a huge selection of gorgeous cards and stationery through Phoenix Trading, I will have to do more blog posts highlighting some of my favourite designs in more detail. Let me know if you’d like to see more of any particular theme, such as the 3D cards, wedding designs, innovative products, children’s party ideas…

It would seem that at every fair I like to display something new. I have a fair this saturday (9th March 2013) at Tetbury Market House and my new mini drawstring bags (with colouring packs) will be put out on display for the very first time.
There is a choice of standard designs:
And as per usual, there is the option to place an order for a personalised bag with a choice of illustration from the letterchart (which has 72 illustrations to choose from). Due to the size of the bags, the number of characters is limited to 3, which is perfect for initials.
The colouring pack includes a mini colouring book and a dozen full size colouring pencils. The mini colouring book is hand-made, has approximately 36 pages and is currently available in a choice of 5 colours: green, red, purple, blue and lilac. I have yet to decide the final binding technique for the notebooks, at the moment there is a choice between ribbon bound and stapled and I am about to experiment with some elastic cord. I plan to end up with just one style of binding, so if you have a favourite let me know!
Mini drawstring bag on its own £ 3.25
Mini drawstring bag with colouring pack £4.75
Personalise for an additional £1
I have yet to list these bags in my online shop, so if you’d like to order one you can contact me by email or by my facebook page or you can come and see me at one of my next events. I will update this post with a link to my shop once they have been listed.
Why not combine a mini bag & colouring pack with a small personalised canvas bag, they would make the perfect present for any little tot!
Aside from one wedding project for a previous client of mine, I’ve not ventured into the crazy world of weddings yet. But then I realised just how unique my printed interchangeable bunting is and also that I have the ability to create bespoke printed bunting flags. Bespoke printed bunting flags… my mind was whirring with possibilities, but the first one that shouted (very loudly) at me was most definitely Weddings!!
Because I print all my bunting onto 270gsm art canvas myself, I can create one off designs, and also customise and personalise existing designs. My plan is to create a range specific to weddings (you could however select any existing bunting design) that could be customised with your wedding colour palette and fonts to tie in with your wedding style and themes. Of course, if you wanted to go truly bespoke I could design anything your heart desired and print it onto a bunting triangle!
The real beauty of my bunting is that it can be swapped and changed with just a couple of ‘pops’! You could keep your wedding bunting and then add extra flags to it, perhaps when the two of you become three(?!). It would look stunning in your children’s nursery with additional bunting flags added, whether extra patterned bunting flags or even some of the original illustrated range of bunting.
But why stop at the bunting. I also plan to have a selection of standard fonts and designs that could be customised to your wedding colours to create a special monogram. Making it a pick and mix style of designing and therefore keeping the costs to you down. This monogram can then be carried across the entire stationery range, for example, save the date cards, invites, order of service, table plans, decorations (<– bunting!!), thank you cards….
It will be a while before I fine tune what is currently another exciting idea buzzing around my head into a smooth streamlined wedding wonder. But I’m really excited about heading into this market and can’t wait to get started!
