Our last day in the Netherlands had to be spent with the windmills. So we headed to Zaanse Schans where they have working windmills.
Keukenhoff was extraordinary, I love tulips, their bright splash of colour after a long and cold winter is always what the doctor ordered. And Keukenhoff delivered tulips by the bucket load and more! Everywhere you look there’s more and more and more and I went at the end of the season, I can only imagine how spectacular it is in the middle of the season. (more…)
Day 3 of my trip to the Netherlands was the long awaited trip to Keukenhoff the land of tulips! And we started off with a little glimpse at the last few patches of tulips growing in the fields. Most had already been chopped off and shipped off all around the world but there were a couple of rows still to see.
I recently took a trip to the Netherlands to visit one of my best friends who moved out there a couple of years ago. She’s an amazing photographer so it was a great excuse for 3 days (allowing one day off for pure shopping) of fun photography. (more…)
Locally based, still-life fine art photographer and mother of two Gemma Dawks, had cause to celebrate last weekend as she picked up 3 international awards at The Guild of Professional Photographers annual awards night. These are in addition to the 35 awards that she won throughout 2013 in their monthly competitions. (more…)
The final results are in for December’s Image of the Month Competition with The Guild of Photographers and I’ve rounded off the year with 2 more Bronze Bar Awards!
But that’s not the end for 2013… oh no… there is the much anticipated Awards dinner on the 31st! Up for grabs is a spot in the Photographer of the Year top ten of the Open Category and also the chance to be a member of the new Photographer’s Bar an exclusive club for photographers that have achieved exceptional consistent results throughout the year.
I am keeping my finger’s crossed that I’ll have more to report in a couple of weeks
It’s New Year’s Eve and time to reflect and what a busy year it’s been!!
I have added new products to my illustration range:
Although I have been going to the Tetbury Market for a while by the end of 2013 I have taken over organising our Craft & Gift Fairs at Tetbury Market House.
I have started being an Independent Phoenix Trader.
And last but definitely not least is my photography. In January I started entering the Image of the Month Competition with The Guild of Photographers and have been awarded 6 Silver Bar Awards and 20 Bronze Bar Awards with December’s scores still to come back. It has been an incredible year for my photography and here are all those award winning images:
It has been an amazing year and I can’t wait to get started on 2014 to see where it takes me!
August saw me achieve my best results yet with my highest individual scores in The Guild of Photographers Image of the Month Competition. The snapdragons were calling to me to photograph them from the minute I saw them and I am really pleased with how the final images turned out.
I’m so thrilled that I’m reaching the rare and hard to achieve Silver Bar Awards repeatedly, it’s a huge personal and professional achievement which I hope to maintain while I aim for the next level. My highest marks this month saw me just 2% away from Gold!! As would be expected, Gold Bar Awards are very hard to achieve and fingers crossed one day I’ll get there!
